Freedom

The Declaration of Independence, among other things, carries forward at least two very subversive and potent ideas:

• That human beings are created, and all share in innate equal, divinely-conferred dignity;


• That we have free agency, including the agency to determine how we are governed.

These ideas, if nothing else, are universal, not particular to any one country or region or people. May they provide some water to weary travellers on the way.
