Regarding trees falling in woods, etc.

There once was a man who said "God
Must think it exceedingly odd
If he finds that this tree
Continues to be
When there's no one about in the Quad."

Dear Sir,
Your astonishment's odd.
I am always about in the Quad.
And that's why the tree
Will continue to be
Since observed by
Yours faithfully,
God

This reminds me of a conversation I had with my wife a long time ago. We got on this topic somehow, and I always liked her response:

"If a tree falls in the forest, and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"

"The animals can hear it!"

"There are no animals around, remember?"

"Of course there are animals in the forest!"
