An exorcism, a heist, and replacements

boccaderlupoI dreamed I was casting out a malicious demon from our home. It had a silvery white mask, like something out of Kabuki, and a similar flowing coat. It didn't go quietly, but had a bellowing voice. Finally, after much back and forth, it withdrew into the night.

I dreamed my wife and I were involved in a seven-year-long heist drama. We met with our various co-conspirators in a garage apartment next to a large gas station on the edge of the Delaware River. It was owned by my deceased grappling coach, who was, in the dream, very much alive, and had plotted the whole grand scheme. Each of us was to play our small role in the caper, including my sister-in-law and her friend the acupuncturist, but after seven years, it was beginning to dawn on us that the heist would not be a success. We disbanded, gently.

I dreamed I was walking through a rather pleasant residential suburb at twilight. I had parked a vehicle there, a Subaru SUV, and went for a walk across a swath of green. A guy from the neighborhood, obviously keeping an eye on strangers wandering through his burg, waved and asked if I was okay. I gave him a friendly greeting and thumbs up, and continued my walk, then doubled-back to my car, only to find it gone. In its place was an old roadster from the 20th century, and I had no means of operating it. The guy from earlier strolled across his lawn to me.
I was struck with a sudden bout of memories, in which mischievous demons had been consistently taking my stuff an inopportune times and replacing the items with analogous but inoperable things, and I explained it all to the guy, who was dumbstruck. I was on the verge of tears. He probably though I was out of my mind, but offered to drive me back to my house, anyway. I decline, and began trudging homewards.
